about

Written in Puerto Rico between 1973 – 1974, the song “Jesus the Rock” came to me late one night after I watched the crashing of the vicious waves of a storm crashing on a large rock near the shore. In the morning, after the storm had subsided, I noticed that all the crashing of the waves had no effect on that rock on the shoreline. Not one small piece was broken or missing. That's when the Lord spoke to me about Himself: “This is just what I'm like. I’m still here and still the same after all the crashing and noise of the world and Satan. They can beat against and challenge me and my word to no avail. I am still here. I am also here after you have tried everything in life that people say will set you free and don’t. All you’ve got to do is call my name. This illustrated the love, patience and immovability of Christ and the Word of God.

lyrics

Verse 1:

Well, I never believed I’d be singing this song
but I must confess what happened to me.
I was looking for the truth like a needle in a haystack
and a goldfish in the deep blue sea.
I tried money, sex, dope, work, yoga, music, school
all those things people say would set you free.
But it wasn’t till I stop running some kind of fool that I let the light empower me.

Chorus:

Then I say Jesus the rock in troubled water.
Jesus, the bright and morning star.
Jesus the bridge over troubled water. He’s not very far.
He’s still the say. All you’ve got to do is call his name.
He’s not very far. He’s still the say. All you’ve got to do is call his name.

Bridge:

So many people, have not heard about the love that He brings.
We’ve got to show them, so they will know Him and the truth that will set them free.
He’ll make their hearts to sing.
